Volunteer Requirements

Thank you for considering us to give your time. The Seniors and Disabled will be more than appreciative for you sharing your joy, compassion and love.

General Requirements for Volunteers

Applicants must be:

  • At least 18 years old
  • In good physical and mental health
  • Able to communicate well in English (second language skills are a plus)
  • Willing to volunteer 2 to 4 hours shift for 4 consecutive weeks or an anytime 2 hour shift

Volunteer Commitment

We ask that each volunteer commit to completing 25 hours of service in no less than 6 months of service. Comprehensive testing, training, and orientations are provided for each volunteer via computer, conference call meetings, class room and volunteer on-site location.

Please be patient with us as evening and weekend volunteer shifts are the most popular. As a result, receiving an assignment during these highly requested times may take longer.

Before You Volunteer

We will work with you to schedule completion of:

  • General Orientation, usually held on weeknights or weekends
  • A two-hour Elder Care Orientation
  • A personal interview with the Volunteer Coordinator
  • Health clearance
  • Purchase of a volunteer uniform (if applicable to volunteer position)

Personal Interview

During the interview you will:

  • Share your interest in volunteering and how you hope to benefit from the experience
  • Complete any additional required paperwork for the application process

Health Clearance Examination

The health clearance is necessary before you begin working with our clients. This includes:
